PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN THE AIRPORTS OF AIRPORTS OF REGIONS MANAGING COMPANY SHOWED 27% GROWTH IN 2017

Following the results of the year 2017, the passenger traffic in the airports of Airports of Regions management company (Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, and Rostov-on-Don) made 11 million 786 thousand passengers, which was 27% more than the previous year figure. The increase is observed for all types of air service. Passenger traffic made 8 million 216 thousand passengers (+ 12%) on domestic and 3 million 570 thousand passengers (+ 83%) on international flights. By the end of the year, the dynamics of growth in the passenger traffic of Airports of Regions holding company became one of the highest one in the industry.

In 2017, Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg became the leader of the holding in terms of air service with the passenger traffic amounting to 5 million 404 passengers. The main driver of growth was international operations. Last year, 1 million 919 thousand passenger flights were made from Koltsovo abroad. This is 67% higher than that figure in the previous period. The transfer passenger traffic demonstrated consistent growth, as well. Over 360 thousand passengers have already taken advantage of flights with transfer in Yekaterinburg. This figure grew by one fourth compared to the year 2016.

The year 2017 will become history of Airports of Regions management company and domestic aviation as a year of commissioning of new Platov International Airport, the only newly built airport of such a level in Russia's modern history. Following the results of the year 2017, the passenger traffic of Rostov-on-Don International Airport and Platov International Airport grew by one third and made 2 million 766 thousand passengers. The volume of passenger air service of Rostov-on-Don International Airport has exceeded two million passengers for the five years and holds its own in the top-10 largest regional airports in Russia.

Airport Kurumoch in Samara has reached a passenger traffic of 2 million 649 thousand passengers (+ 26.6% against the previous year) for the first time in recent years. Besides, the airport has launched operation of the second runway, which allows accepting almost all modern long-range aircraft such as Boing-777 and Airbus-340 and operating passenger flights to longer distances without transit in major cities.

The total passenger traffic at Strigino Airport in Nizhny Novgorod has increased by 24% over the year and exceeded 966 thousand passengers. Besides, a significant increase was demonstrated in the international flights, which is partly due to the transfer of international flights to the new terminal building. Following the results of the year, 249 thousand passengers took advantage of direct flights abroad, which was 2.6 times more than in 2016.

Overall more than 120 Russian and foreign airlines took advantage of flights from holding company airports to 120 destinations during the previous year.
