In the terminal, work continues on the treatment of key metal structures with fire retardant and their painting, the setting of large-size floor tiles along with other fit-out activities. The builders are laying all essential utilities while installing the facade. The structural steel erection and heat insulation of the entrance lobbies have been completed, with 11 elevators, 4 moving staircases and 7 sectional gates installed. The construction readiness of the new building is about 70%.

The general contractor of the new passenger terminal, Limak Marash, is currently planning the nearby plaza with short-term and long-term parking lots for 300 automobiles. A dedicated lane for public transport, a drop-off and pick-up area and a covered bus stop will also be fashioned here.

In the meantime, the Airports of Regions’ team presented to the region’s head a draft of permanent exposition at Novy Urengoy airport, highlighting the Yamal development breakthroughs. Multimedia and analogue objects will show all facets of the region's rare riches – natural, human and technological resources. The facilities will be dispersed over the terminal so that even without a ticket on hand the visitor could see most installations.

Dmitry Artyukhov was also told about the progress of the airfield overhaul. The airport's general contractor Urengoydorstroy is currently working on the third and final stage of the airfield pavement renovation. In the coming summer season, construction and installation works will be carried out at an apron section on the area of about 55,000 square meters, including three taxiways and seven parking ramps. Last year bituminous concrete was poured and new navigation lights were installed on the runway.

As a reminder, the Novy Urengoy airport’s large-scale renovation project is being carried out by Airports of Regions management company under a concession agreement with the YNAO government, signed in March 2018. In parallel with operational management, Airports of Regions MC is building a new passenger terminal, renovating the airfield as well.
