Three airports run by Airports of Regions MC hit the top ten in Russia and the CIS

Koltsovo (Ekaterinburg), Platov (Rostov-on-Don) and Kurumoch (Samara) airports (all three managed by Airports of Regions MC) were included in the top ten airports in Russia and the CIS according to the Skytrax international rating organisation (UK). Platov was ranked third in the World Airport Awards, Koltsovo ranked fifth, and Kurumoch ranked eighth. Baku, Moscow, Kazan, Sochi and St. Petersburg airports were also among the best in this group.

The World Airport Awards are also known as Passenger’s Choice Awards as they are based on passenger feedback. In 2021, flyers from more than 500 airports around the world voted for best airports. The World Airport Awards, evaluating customer service and airport facilities, is thought to be the benchmark of quality in civil aviation industry. This year’s awards put a special focus on the way airports are adapting to the challenges posed by the new coronavirus pandemic.

This spring, Skytrax experts confirmed the high standards of COVID safety at Koltsovo, Platov and Kurumoch airports: based on the audit results, they’ve been awarded the maximum rating of 5 stars, indicating a high level of cleanliness and strict compliance with all procedures for passenger service in those hubs.

Koltsovo, Platov and Kurumoch airports were included in the list of the world’s safest airports, compiled by Skytrax on the basis of a passenger survey. Passengers assessed compliance with COVID-19 control standards by the presence of appropriate signage in terminals, social distancing markings, visibility and availability of hand sanitizers as well as cleanliness.
