Airports of Regions Gets Skytrax Awards

An official ceremony of awards from the United Kingdom-based reputed international agency Skytrax took place in London at night on March 27, 2019. The Platov International Airport formally received the certificate awarding the highest rating of 5 Stars of Skytrax in the course of the event, while the Koltsovo International Airport was recognized as the Best Regional Airport of Russia and CIS in the nomination from prestigious World Airport Awards 2019, also staged by the UK agency.

The ceremony took place within the framework of the Passenger Terminal EXPO, the global exhibition of achievements of the airport infrastructure, systems and services.

5 Stars of Skytrax is the most prestigious award for airports and airlines to date in the sphere of quality assessment of passenger services. Skytrax auditors assess operations of an air harbor by almost 500 parameters. Among them are staff performance, size of queues at check-in counters, luggage release rate, quality and speed of a wi-fi connection, cleanness in terminals, and others.

To recap, results of the Platov Airport audit became known to experts of the influential international agency Skytrax on February 12, 2019. The Russian airport earned the highest rating from the reputed agency Skytrax for the first time throughout the history of the organization since 1989.

The World Airport Awards is considered to be one of the most prestigious for airports in quality and passenger servicing aspects. It is also called the Passenger’s Choice Awards because they are presented according to results of passengers’ responses. Passengers in more than 550 airports worldwide participated in the poll this year. Polling took place for 6 months. Passengers rated airports by 39 criteria, with transport access to the airport, the convenience of check-in, inspection, etc., among them.
