ROSTOV AIRPORT IS INCLUDED IN TOP-10 AIRPORTS OF THE COUNTRY
Based on the results of the first half of 2017, Rostov-on-Don International Airport was included in Top-10 Russian airports by the number of passengers served and in Top-3 by the increase in passenger traffic. Rosaviatsiya published these data on its website. The rating includes 259 domestic airports in total.
The total increase in passenger traffic for the first half of 2017, which made the Rostov airport one of the leaders among 259 domestic airports, amounted to 35.8%. The main increase is caused by the increased number of passengers, primarily of international routes. In particular, the resumption of the program of flights to the Turkey’s resorts (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman) and new flights to Baku and Tbilisi made up almost 50% of the entire international traffic from January to June. The demand for such internal directions as Moscow (+24.5%), St. Petersburg (+49.4%), Novosibirsk (6-fold increase), Samara (+35.5%), Makhachkala (12-fold increase) also contributed to the traffic increase.
It should be added that in the first half of 2017 only 10 Russian airports (excluding the Moscow air hub and St. Petersburg airport) served more than 1 million people, and the Rostov airport confidently holds its position in Top-10.
