AIRPORTS OF REGIONS MC PASSENGER FLOW AT 2016 QUAERTER I END INCREASED BY 1.1% - UP TO 1 MLN. 738 THOS. 461 PEOPLE

Passenger flow via Airports of Regions MC airports (Koltsovo, Kurumoch, Strigino, Rostov-on-Don) increased by 1.1% and accounted for 1 mln. 738 thos. 461 passengers at 2016 quarter I end. The scope of passenger operations continues growing at domestic airlines. In January-March 2016, 1 mln. 478 thos. 769 people were carried, thus exceeding the previous year similar period indicator by + 18.3%. Furthermore, the passenger demand decrease tendency remains at international airlines.  259 thos. 692 people were served for the reporting period, less than 2015 indicator by 44.6%.

In 2016 quarter I, 11 thos. 059 fixed-wing sorties were operated from holding airports. The volume of mail and cargoes handled in January-March 2016 was 8 thos.  721.58 t, exceeding the  indicator of 2015 similar period by 30.2%.

19 new directions, both international and regional, have been opened in holding airports for the reporting period. At 2016 quarter I end, 81 airlines were operating flights at 143 directions on a regular basis.

Koltsovo International Airport (Ekaterinburg) passenger flow was 778 thos. 054  people in 2016 quarter I. In particular, domestic airlines served 628 thos. 487  passengers, and international ones – 149  thos. 567 people.

420 thos. 465 passengers enjoyed Kurumoch International Airport (Samara) services in January-March 2016.  Among other things, domestic airlines carried 377 thos. 483 passengers, and international ones –  42 thos. 982 passengers.

Strigino International Airport (Nizhny Novgorod) passenger flow was 140 thos. 782 people for the reporting period. Domestic Russian airlines served 134 thos. 139 passengers, and international ones – 6 thos. 643 passengers.

Rostov-on-Don International Airport served 399 thos. 160 people at 2016 quarter I end.  Domestic airlines carried 338 thos. 660  people, and international ones – 60 thos. 500 people.

Amid the decrease in demand for foreign tourist travels, the need for domestic flights of growing in holding airports.  As before, Moscow remains the most needed Russian direction - more than 50% of all domestic Russian flights since the beginning of the year was operated to capital airports. The evident passenger flow growth for the reporting period was fixed on flights from Samara (Kurumoch) to Moscow  (+23.5%), Ekaterinburg (+61.1%), Surgut (+30.2%), Kazan (+ 63%); from Ekaterinburg (Koltsovo) to Novosibirsk (increased by 2.6 times), Sochi (increased by 2.5 tomes), St.Petersburg (+81.4%), Ufa (+22.1%), Moscow (+10.9%); from Nizhny Novgorod (Strigino) to Moscow (+11.5%), St.Petersburg (+62%), Ulianovsk (+40.7%), Izhevsk (+42.9%); from Rostov-on-Don to Moscow (+8.7%), Yerevan (+39.2%).
