KOLTSOVO AIRPORT BECOMES A HUB FOR CARRYING PASSENGERS TO EUROPE FROM CHINA
Supported by Koltsovo Airport, Ural Airlines proceeded to the implementation of the project on the development of international transfer air carriages via Ekaterinburg. Since end of March, the carrier has opened regular flights to Rome and Paris from Ekaterinburg, having connected them with its own flights from Paris to Ekaterinburg. Chinese tourists have thus obtained a new opportunity to travel to Europe - with change in the Sverdlovsk Region capital. Transfer passenger flow on flights between Ekaterinburg and Beijing accounts now for 60% of the entire commercial load.
In June, two more European directions will be added to the transfer carriage project of Ural Airlines - Copenhagen and Helsinki. Flight frequency from Beijing to Ekaterinburg will be increased from four to seven flights per week.
“We are interested in the airport transfer potential development, attracting external markets, of which one are tourist passenger flows between Asia and Europe. Ekaterinburg geographic position facilitates paying attention to China, first of all”, Sergei Dotsenko, Director for Aviation Business Development, Airports of Regions MC, says. “We decreased the time of international passenger flow handling by the airport down to 50 minutes, as well as offered special financial terms to the carrier within the framework of international transfer carriage development. Ural Airlines policies allowed attracting Chinese traffic for supporting new European directions, opening which from Ekaterinburg in the current economic situation would be extremely difficult.
Airline and airport joint efforts on the development of transfer services from Ekaterinburg will not stop thereat, short-range plans provide for opening new directions.
