Modernization of the Novy Urengoy airport is the first airport infrastructure development project in Russia implemented under the concession agreements law. The term of the agreement will make 30 years, of which the investment phase will make 3.5 years.
A concession agreement for the design, construction, modernization and operation of the Novy Urengoy airport facility was signed in Salekhard on 14 March 2018. Earlier, Urengoyaeroinvest (a limited liability company being a part of Airports of Regions) has won the investment tender held by the government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District in January this year.
At the first stage, the new passenger terminal of the Novy Urengoy airport the floor area of which makes 18 thousand square meters will be equipped with three air bridges and 12 check-in counters. The airport passenger capacity will make 840 passengers per hour and 1.45 million passengers per year. The airport development Master Plan provides for a possible increase of the floor area of the new terminal building and creation of an international flights sector. Short-term and long-term parking lots for 300 cars, respectively, are planned to be constructed on the airport land side in front of the new terminal.
Besides, Airports of Regions will finance comprehensive modernization of the runway and taxiways as well as the construction of a new apron. All construction and modernization works will be carried out without stopping airport operations.
The restructuring of the Novy Urengoy airport infrastructure is scheduled to be completed to the end of 2021.
